Keiki (children) learn discipline and grace via dance while gaining knowledge of the Hawaiian culture through history lessons and lore. Language studies, craft making and building friendships of all ages is an integral part of participating in our halau.
Halau Hula o Kaleooka'iwa is a school of Hawaiian arts located in Orlando, Florida. Instituted and overseen by Kumu Hula Kawehi Punahele, this halau has been recognized as one of the premier schools of Hawaiian dance and culture in the Central Florida region. Halau Hula o Kaleooka'iwa has received numerous awards at the Ho'ike Hawai'i hula competition over the past 18 years. The halau also dances most Saturday mornings at Walt Disney World's Polynesian Resort lobby.
The halau (school) meets twice weekly to learn and practice kahiko (ancient) and 'auana (modern) hulas. Hawaiian language lessons are an essential part of the studies.
