OUR STORY
Hula is Life was sparked from a deep love and passion towards learning hula and our Hawaiian culture.
Founder Gabe Spencer began his hula journey in 2010 dancing under the direction of Kumu Hula Kaleo Trinidad of Ka Leo O Laka I Ka Hikina O Ka La, eventually competing at The Merrie Monarch — a life-changing moment that opened doors to performing internationally and building lasting cultural connections. His wife, Jaimie Spencer also competed at The Merrie Monarch and ran for Miss Aloha Hula under the direction of Kumu Hula Ed Collier and Halau O Na Pua Kukui.
Inspired by the powerful meaning behind the phrase “Hula is Life”, the brand was created to inspire our Lahui and give them the opportunity to share it with the world through meaningful, authentic apparel.
Today, Hula is Life has grown into a lifestyle brand that brings together hula dancers, cultural enthusiasts, and island lovers — carrying the aloha spirit wherever they go.
